A golden mess!

As I was busy teaching this technique on Saturday
one of the girls wanted some gold paint.
So I took out the paint and start shaking the bottle.
When I released the cap the whole top came off and
a huge amount of the paint splattered onto the page...

I tried to blot off most of the paint but the damage was done!

Ok, now for the word damage...

It really isn't damage, you need to work with it.
It is like life, you plan one thing and then
life happens and you have to make things work.

So now I am left with this.
It is still sitting on my table, but I will make it work.!!

Does it make sense?

Does it have to?

Anyway this is a reminder for the Art Journal Class on Saturday.
10:00 - 13:00
Please bring your mixed media pad and Micron pens.

I think I need a bit of yellow on this page... maybe not.

Music in my Journal

I started on this journal a few weeks back
and decided to use the pages for snippets from the
lyrics of my favorite songs...

.... and then to do freehand writing on these pages!
It takes a bit more planning, but I wanted to do it.

So at the moment the plan is to continue with
this technique for this specific journal.
Mainly because I love working with
the Distress inks and stencils.

(but the plan may change...)

As you can see, the binding of the book will
come much later. The back of  all of these pages are still blank
and I will have to work carefully when I colour them.

On this page I used a chipboard element that I coloured
with my Gelatos and water pen.
I did some stamping with a grey ink and
then I did some stenciling using my Distress inks.

For the lettering on the bottom, I used a bit of Distress stain to
colour the texture paste, to match the rest of the page.

There are three journals in progress at the moment.

This one is called Music in my Journal.
Then there is an art workbook for colours and techniques
and then a new journal filled with quotes on a specific topic.

The next art journal class will be all about
acrylic paints.
Remember there are no rules, have fun and create!

Fabric covered tin

Last week Thursday we had our once a month Social Creativity
get together and we covered a metal tin with fabric.

The fabric is from Liefielove.
The most beautiful fabric and embellishments to work with.

Some of the girls brought their own fabric, ribbon and lace to add to
the mixture and spice things up.

Although I forgot to photograph the sides and the insides of the lids,
they were also decorated beautifully.

This is the tin that I made as a sample for the class.
I also decorated the inside of the lid,
because you need to use your embellishments!

As a last thought, add a flower or some Bling!

The tutorial on how to decorate this tin will be in the next
Issue of the Creative Hobbies Magazine.
